Installation
After the installation a setup program is run and that creates few folders and allocates installed apps to these folders. There is one special folder named All Apps. All Apps folder shows all the apps installed on your device.
View Modes
There are few view modes to choose from. The edit position mode helps in positioning the apps in the list. Other view modes helps in displaying the apps in various densities.
Sorting
Apps can be sorted by position, name, package or installed date. Generally sorting by position and name are useful. Use the menu->settings option to persist your sorting.
Folders
A folder can be created as a main folder or a child folder. A main folder can be converted into a child folder and vice versa. A child folder can be assigned to one or more main folders.
Launch Folder
Use the menu command to select a folder as launch folder. When GoToApp is started content of the launch folder is displayed.
New App Folder
Use menu command to select a new app folder. When a new app is installed it will be automatically assigned to this folder. Create a folder named New Apps and select it as the new app folder. It is not necessary to select a new app folder. All installed apps appear in All Apps folder.
Change of Folder Icon
Now the folder icon can be modified. The default choice is to create the icons automatically from the first four apps in the folder. You can choose to select icon from a particular app or select it from a file in sdcard. The icon file should be in PNG format and the size should about 72x72 pixel size.
Reload Icons
Use this menu command to recreate or reload the folder icons. Folder icons are automatically created from first few apps(sorted by position) in the folder. Icons uploaded from SD Card are uploaded again(ignored when file is not found).

ReplyDeleteAre you able to change the folder icon on the Android home screens?
ReplyDeleteHow do you change an icon on the Galaxy Tablet 10.1 with no SD Card slot?
ReplyDeleteHome screen live folder icons cannot be changed at this time. Home screen app provides restrictions on how the icons can be attached. Future update will include few icons to choose from to show in the home screen live folder.
ReplyDeleteYou can create shortcut to child folder in the home screen that attaches the child folder icon. First set the correct folder icon to a child folder using the folder editor. Then go back to the main folder that lists child folder along with other app. Long touch on child folder to create shortcut on home screen.
There is a minor difference in how live folder and shortcut to child folder behaves. It is about how they are closed by home and return key.
I added subfolder to main folder. But main folder showed nothing. No other solution except change the subfolder back to main folder and do one more time. Waste time and unstable. Pay version not worth.

ReplyDeleteHow do i remove icons for programmes no longer insralled i cannot remove android market items from screens now it is replaced with google play
ReplyDeleteAm still using trial version. After creating main folder shortcuts (12) all icons were named "All Apps". How can I edit each folder name? Thank you. I enjoy this app and will gladly buy if this function can be corrected.
ReplyDeleteThis is caused by the device operating system. Apps cannot change the shortcut title on the desktop. Please remove the shortcuts and create again.
DeleteIf the problem re-appears send email to developer with the device name.
@common man
ReplyDeletewith go to app open click the bottom left button on your phone then select "folders" from the menu.
Press and hold any folder name for a couple of seconds and when you release it should bering up the edit screen for the menu. Change the text in the white box to rename folders. (I assume by shortcuts you meant folders)
Gbswales,
DeleteYour prompt reply is appreciated. I previously had changed folder names, so I know how to do that. When selecting "more" from menu I have two options, either for "help" or for "create shortcuts". After electing the shortcuts (I made12 of them) all of the icons appeared on my home screen, but under each icon showed the text "all apps". I my folders named "utilities", "tools", etc. Rather than display "tools" the app displays "all apps". I have twelve icons and twelve "all apps", but no "tools", etc.
@commonman - ahh sorry I cant help with that as I didnt use the shortcut feature at all - I just have one shortcut to GoToApp on my main screen and to access apps click that and use the built in scroll bar to find all my folders -beyond the home screen I dont use any of the original screens on my phone
ReplyDeleteFirst time I posted a comment the developer got in touch but doesnt seem to now and I cant find support email. No updates recently is make me wonder if the developer has lost interest and moved on to something else
ReplyDeleteDeveloper is back on it. Soon there will be new updates.
DeleteAn excellent app. If this could be developed for the kindle fire books folder so we could group books into folders, i.e. to create "collections". You would make a fortune! I reckon its probably the most missed / sought after function on Kindle Fire.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fabulous tool! One issue has surfaced for me. I paid a few dollars for the Gotoapp Full version for my Kindle Fire 8.9 from the Amazon app store. The next week, I also downloaded the Gotoapp Demo for my KF 7. Today, in my KF 8.9's app library, both apps are titled as being "Gotoapp DEMO"...and if I go to Amazon to check again for the full version, it show as being there and as being one of mine. Maybe it is a glitch of a temporary nature? I love this app, just want my paid version to show as the Full one I paid for. Otherwise, it is confusing...and makes me wonder if they are the same, why did I pay.
ReplyDeleteThanks for fixing this!!
DeleteI got a problem, when i hit the app inside the program, lets say i got 3 icons listet in row 1 and 2 icons in row 2, then i cannot see the icons and hit the app. Is that a bug.
ReplyDeleteAlso if there only are 2 icons in a folder. Only the text Are listet.
I love the GoToAppDemo app but have 1 issue. Is there a way to make it STAY in the notifications list on the Kindle Fire (1st Gen) so that when you hit "Clear All" to clear the notifications of your other downloads or other non-permanent needed notices it stays in the notifications list so that I can launch from the notifications bar. Otherwise every time I want to clear my notices list of stuff I have downloaded to keep it clean it removes the GoToApp notice. I have a shortcut/favorite to launch it as well but wanted this method as well.
ReplyDeleteI dont see a settings option to do this.
Please advise
Thanks
I am using the trial version. I was sorting my apps according to the folders and accidentally selected a wrong category. How can I deselect it? I was able to select the correct category, but I want to remove the incorrect one so that app won't be listed in the wrong folder.
ReplyDeleteI have the paid version and love the app. I cannot delete apps I no longer have. Is there a fix for this please?
ReplyDeleteLong press the app you wish to delete from your home screen. An option to delete from device pops up first. Delete from your device. Long press again and will give the Option to delete from cloud. Any and all apps you download will be saved to the cloud drive. You can go to your Amazon account and manage your device (mine are my droid razr h.d. and kindle fire h.d.) You can from their find and select to delete apps on the device or devices and delete from your cloud drive. NOTE: If you delete from your cloud the app will be gone for good even if purchased. If you want to keep an app on one device but not the other you MUST delete from device only and not the cloud o you will be spending money again to get it back.
ReplyDeleteHope this helped. First time ever giving my input on anything. I'm always the one asking and reading.
